What is biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a straightforward process. For example, when you look in a mirror to see how you look, you are receiving biofeedback from the mirror. Scientific biofeedback in modern medicine uses sophisticated electromedical measurement devices that provide feedback of many body functions, including brainwaves, heartrate and heartrate variability, skin resistance, skin temperature and muscle tension.
What is neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a particular subspecialty of biofeedback which utilizes EEG technology. EEG readings are taken from scalp sensors. These readings can indicate levels of mental arousal, mental stress, or even levels of relaxation. For instance, the brainwaves of meditators have been studied for decades. Ongoing research into the applications of neurofeedback for pain control, attention-deficit, anxiety, PTSD, epilepsy control, brain injury recovery, and insomnia continues to yield encouraging results.

One also learns to access the therapeutic state of the brain that heals. It has been demonstrated as effective with ADHD, pain, addiction, and phobias.
What is Heartrate Variability Training?
Empirical data has demonstrated a significant correlation between a high rate of Heartrate Variability and resilience to stress. If a person is in a fight-or-flight mode, there is noticeably less variability in the heartbeat rate. We utilize entertaining, engaging computerized biofeedback programs to train our clients how to regulate and optimize their Heartrate Variability .

Every session is unique and caters to each individual and his or her specific goals. It is common to schedule a series of weekly sessions, which may vary in length. There may be times when you are asked to take certain actions outside of the sessions, such as reading a relevant book or keeping records to track certain behaviors. It is important to practice what has been learned and integrate it into your life between sessions. For this process to be most effective you must be an active participant, both during and between the sessions.
